You know what I don't understand? When people hate on music games because you should be "playing a real instrument".
Why? Well, several reasons:

1) It's a game, nobody is trying to prove anyone anything - it's just fun;
2) The time, effort, and money one would spend learning to skillfully play one song on a real guitar is much bigger than you'd spend getting a good score/100%/FC/Gold Stars/etc. while playing through the same song in your music game of choice;
3) I'm not pretending to play guitar; I'm playing a videogame. The time I'm spending here would have been spent with different video games were I not playing this one;
4) How come nobody says the same about lightgun shooters, steering wheel racing games, and the Wii's motion-sensing technology? These games are fun not only because of the subject matter, but also because of the unconventional controls.

Also, yes, my next-door neighbour is a valiant knight and he's a prick.
